29-year-old Frenchman, Emmnauel Piget will return to international competition for the first time since European F3 in 2010. Piget has only negotiated a deal to race in Monza at this stage.
His 24-year-old Romanian teammate, Mihai Marinescu, will contest the championship – the only driver of his nationality to do so. Marinescu returns to series, having previously made 11 starts in 2009. Monza will see both drivers face an uphill struggle come race weekend as testing duties were gifted to GP3 driver, Dino Zamparelli amongst others.
Team Boss, Claudio Corradini blamed the team’s winter struggles for their delay – Zeta Corse replaced BVM Target to enter this year. “When it came to signing drivers, many of them were already busy” he explained. The team hope to secure a second full-time drive soon.
28 drivers will compete as they hope to prove themselves to Formula 1 bosses – Daniel Ricciardo, Jean-Eric Vergne, Robert Kubica and Kamui Kobayashi all used the series as a platform for a competitive seat.
